You can, but it's a total system hog, and on a computer that's old enough to be running windows 2000, the fewer stuff you have running the better off you will be. You could go with AVG, which is free, but it's not as much protection as a commercial product, and it gives you NO protection at all from spyware like a commercial product will. I recommend Nod32 if you don't mind paying, you can get a 30 day free trial at http://www.eset.com it's a LOT lighter on resources.
