Norton is made by the guys at Symantec, and it isn't a part of Yahoo!. To cancel it, uninstall Norton.
The Norton on yahoo only scans your yahoo email. The Norton you have on your computer checks incoming email and stops other stuff from the Internet when you are not on yahoo's website. Keep your subscription current.

Yep, I have done it, just make sure none of the files can interact on your hard drive. I would suggest installing the Virtual PC files along with the server and virus scanner on another hard drive (although the files may be on a hidden partition). Don't use this drive for anything else other than the Virtual OS and it's programs. Another partition is fine too.

Virtual PC is like having another operating system run windowed on your current operating system, you just don't want the virus scanner to accidentally scan your current system and mess with the files, which will never be a problem if you install it say on D: drive and not have it scan C: drive (and have your original Virus Software on C: drive not scan D: drive or wherever the virtual OS is. And of course you have to install it when in the Virtual OS.

What the other answerers don't understand is the files located on the virtual hard drive are all included in a single file on your physical hard drive, most of the time that file cant be opened by antivirus scanning programs, so none of the virtual computer's files are scanned. (Unless you install a virus scanner on the Virtual OS)
It depends on the products themselves. If you really want to run two products, I suggest trendmicro internet security on the server and AVG anti-virus on the virtual. I have used both of these products in a similar fashion.

Gizmo is right., but there is one more thing you can do. You can go to start, search and type in those files one by one, and it'll show you where they are, and you can manually delete them. If that don't work, then do a factory default install.

If you have an active subscription to an antivirus program, make sure that it is up to date. If your subscription is over either renew it or use RevoUninstaller to uninstall it. Then install AVG in its place. Regardless of which of these you do, then install ThreatFire.

You should also visit the Google Pack website in order to download Spyware Doctor for free.

I would also recommend that you use Mozilla's Firefox instead of Internet Explorer. Once it's installed, you should also install the Adblock Plus add-on. After it's been installed, it will ask you if you want to add certain premade lists. I find that instead of adding one, it's best to visit the homepage of EasyList, and add all three lists from there, instead of just one from the original menu.

If you don't already have a firewall, I would strongly recommend that you download Comodo. It can be a bit annoying to "train" it, so when it asks you questions, answer truthfully and thoughtfully.

These programs should get you well on your way, and might even possibly fix the problem on their own. Truthfully.....there is no best antivirus program. None surpass another mainly because they all fluctuate. Personally though, what I use is avg antivirus-free version. No antivirus program is perfect, which also makes it so none can be the best. In the end it all depends on your preferences.

Norton has a HUGE operating footprint (operating requirements) so it'll tax your performance. Personally, I like Webroot SpySweeper because it performs the most through search I have ever seen. Then in the admin account, go to CONTROL PANEL, USER ACCOUNT, and create a account with the type set to adminstrator. After that, restart computer and run normally. You can use the newly created adminstrator now (This mean you can also install antivirus now). Go to www.free-av.com to download Avira Antivir Personal Edition Classic (this free antivirus is better than AVG and Avast, although it is not well known).

Clamwin is only an *on-demand* antivirus, with no *real-time* protective ability:

When your antivirus performs a scan. It produces a log. This log can be up to 100 megabytes of information each. The registry holds all this info. The addition of the info is not the major problem. Its that the information is placed in many places in your registry. This causes fragmentation of files. Your computer's operating system must search through the massive files in the registry constantly. I use AVG 7.5, and have no problem with powerpoint or word, so I figure that you must have some setting on yours that is causing this problem. AVG does a good job for me, btw. My only suggestion would be to go through the settings very carefully and see if you can find what zaps your programs. Good hunting.

Actually there is a place online , I think its cnet.. but just put ratings for the best antivirus software..I bought bitdefender . rated number two with best reviews..but when its download updates and working sometimes slows my system down and I have alot of ram on board and fast processor so couldnt be the system but other than that it seems to work ok.I also have installed several other programs meant to deter people hacking where they can be traced and tracked to their homes or sites and then the program automatically alerts the authorities to them and their activites..This all takes place without their knowledge as soon as they try to enter the system
Norton's good, but extremely heavy on resorces. if u have a computer with over 1 gb ram then u can go 4 it. else go for Kaspersky antivirus, it's light on resources and does blazing speed scans (it was even ranked as the best antivirus by a test by detecting over 97% of the viruses). However the Worst antivirus ever is Quickheal. That piece of crap could'nt even detect a single infection on my comp. Later when i switched to kaspersky i discovered that i had 432 infections which quickheal didi not detect.

It is not an easy question to answer. To answer this one has to have access to all the anti-virus software, which is generally not possible. I use Trend Micro Pc-cillin which is wonderful while using the Internet(which is the main source of all types of virus etc.).

It's set on automatic updates. I click on update, it searches for the updates and then tells me it's updating. The little green circle is spinning next to its icon on the toolbar, and I assumed that it'd be done sometime...My computer is on for a long time! Mcafee is horrible, I would suggest Norton. I've been using it for long time and never got a problem or conflict on my system
