What is the best antivirus software which I can use for my desktop computer?

I am looking for something under $100. What's the difference between Norton, McAffe, Zone Labs, and others?

the top 2 are kaspersky and nod32 ...you can go to their site and download for a 30 day trail run and choose between the two are rated this way 1%26 2.. by most of the top tech mags ...
bit defender is the best by pc world magazine, you'll get a free 30 day trial and it's just like 35 dollars a year, get the internet security one i got that one and love it
How about free!!! Avira antivir !! Download it for free at snapfiles.com/freeware
Your best bet would be to go with something not well known like Panda. The reason being virus builders will try to design ways around well known softwares they are unlikely to put time into finding a way around off brand software. Hope this helps
Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0 is good for desktop

because small size and more update every day

if you get Free from any website

you can't get to download update
