What's the best antivirus software?

I currently own a DELL dimension E521 (Desktop); and I have 2 softwares running "Spyware Doctor" and "Spy Sweeper".

They don't work very well and both programs expire in 2 more months!

I'm looking for a different software.

- Any suggestions???

What's the best antivirus software?virus

I have researched all anti-virus products and the best anti-virus protection is Kaspersky. Kaspersky is the best all-round anti-virus program. NOD32 is just as good if not better, it runs faster and has less software conflicts but may be more difficult to use.

The most popular free anti-virus programs (AVG and Avast) have poor detection rates (82.82%, 87.46% respectively).

Be advised that Norton is the worst anti-virus product ever made. Norton is more like a virus and a huge resource hog. It is notoriously bloated and takes forever to perform full systems scans. The software will do more harm to your PC than good and when you try to remove it, it leaves behind over 375 traces in your registry files/folders and subsystem. This software is so awful you have to download a removal tool to get the majority of the entires out of your machine. You are much better off with a free anti-virus product.

Recent tests prove Kaspersky and NOD32 are better than the best sellers Norton and McAfee (av-comparatives.org).

Trend Micro Antivirus is a viable alternative if you're having a lot of trouble with software conflicts. Trend Micro rounds out the top three. If you want a free anti-virus Avira has higher detection rates than AVG or Avast! (94.26%).
