Does Mac need any antivirus to protect them from virus?

my friend just got some alert about virus detect, but up till now i am not sure about it. Could anyone please help me to verify the above statement? I am kinda worried about her computer.

Since there are no released MacOs X viruses, there is no need for any anti-virus software. I did tech support for a school district for 10 years, I never had a Mac running MacOs X get a virus. There are over 116,000 Windows viruses, there are no released Mac Os X viruses. There is one Mac malware you can get from a porn site which wants you to think you need to install it to watch porn videos. That's it. Her Mac is safe.

i can assure you there's malwares in mac, check out this site blog.iantivirus.com. Trojan DNSChanger servers is still up and running and there are real mac users get's infected with this threat and there's alot more especially keyloggers.
i had a mac and yes it got infected with a virus and yes mac needs a anti virus program
