Out of those two, Norton is a CPU and Memory HOG. So go with BitFender. But, I HIGHLY recommend Avast!. It's free and scans fast, and removes most viruses.
They serve different purposes. Bit Defender is mostly concentrated on computer security, while Norton 360 also does system tune-ups and disk defragmenting in the background. But Norton 360 does not include a full set of system utilities. Symantec Norton SystemWorks Premier Edition has it all, but it costs a bundle.
In independent tests, reported by CNet and PC Magazine, Norton 360 beat nearly every other suite in overall performance, and compared with Norton Internet Security in previous years, it goes much easier on system performance. I guess you can tell that I use Norton 360 myself. Don't buy it right now, since a new version will come out this spring, and you would need to buy it all over again. The new version will include even better on line protections, as well as other Norton 2008 updates.
