Most people, when unbiasedly researched, come to the conclusion that a good anti-virus program such as AVG free will give you just as much protection and will take up much less processes than say Norton or McAfee.

I personally used to use both, and they're both very expensive. I switched to AVG and have noticed a significant improvement in computer preformance because AVG doesn't use nearly as much computer processing power.

Now there are other free programs out there, I'm not saying AVG is the best, but I love it. I would definitely go for that over paying a whole bunch of money for my computer to be slowed down with often features that I really just don't need.

I'd rather have a secure pc that's fast than a pc with a whole bunch of extra features such as parental controls and such and have it run so much slower.

I'd say go for a free one, these days they're really great. Just make sure you turn on windows firewall. (It is on by default so it should be fine) It's in the control panel if you're wondering.

So yes, I say go for AVG or another free anti-virus.
