Should I use Norton Antivirus 2004 or AVG,which ever one I should get,how do I use it?

Avg is free, updates daily, and can be set to scan daily automatically. Nortorn costs money to keep it updated, and I belive it only updates once a week....

AVG is the better choice imo

AVG . Norton is slow
You may use any NEW antivirus. Norton Antivirus (NAV) 2004 is pretty old. I believe it doesn't give you full security. You have to use NAV 2005 atleast, provided you do all the security updates (not just the definitions). Norton 2007 is heavy on resources and will slow down the computer unless you have 512 MB of RAM minimum.

As for usage, both antivirus automatically configures to automatically protect your computer, with automatic updates turned on. Don't worry about NAV updating only once a week. It is enough. If there are critical updates, it will update right away without waiting for a week. So, the choice is really upto you (unless you are low on RAM, in which case you go for AVG).

For full security, that is not enough. You will also need spyware protection and firewall (comes with Windows XP SP2 and Vista). You can either use Norton Internet Security suit of AVG's equivalent tools (which are not free).
Norton As it is most famous and run a simple scan
Everyone is all wrong. Get avast antivirus. It is a free program and it scans for every virus and updates for new viruses everyday. It is super quick for scanning and you can even have it scan as your screensaver. All you need to do is register for free after you download it.Then set up when you want it to scan!!!!
Get AVG, just download it and install it. Run scans, or you can set it up to auto-scan daily.
I'd pick AVG over Norton, I hate Norton
I've been programming and supporting PCs for almost 20 years, and the recent versions of Norton are, in my opinion, among the worst software ever written. My advice to people who ask is that I would rather have a virus on my machine than Norton, because the virus will be easier to get rid of and won't bug you for money every 12 months. Norton and McAfee will both slow down your machine and conflict with other software that you want to run. They're both buggy, and they both have terrible support.

The free version of AVG will protect you just as well, without taking over your machine. If you need something for commercial use, I'd suggest BitDefender.
